Equal Love is a nationwide campaign for marriage equality in Australia. We aim to put pressure on the government to legislate for equal marriage rights.

Equal love formed in 2004 when the Howard government changed the marriage act to purposefully discriminate against non heterosexual couples.

It has now been over 10 years since the Australian government amended the Marriage Act to to state that marriage in an institution between a man and a woman to the exlclusion of all others. That's over ten years of state-sanctioned discrimination!

If you're a supporter of marriage equality we encourage you to be a part of the many actions and demonstrations organised by Equal Love.
We need to send a clear message to the government that discrimination is not okay and will not be tolerated.

At our demonstrations we often have local celebrities, entertainers and community groups leading the marches and Equal Love is famous for organising the annual mid-winter vows at held at the registry office in the month that the law was changed (August).

We encourage others to get on board and play whatever role they can in making the demonstrations bigger and better.

At our events we encourage people to invite contingents of supporting friends, family & workmates to the demonstrations and to bring placards, banners and anything else that will help to show your support for equal rights.

Every year our protests have received national media coverage, taking our cause to the living rooms of millions of Australians. By putting equal rights issues in the public spotlight, we challenge homophobia and discrimination and promote greater acceptance of our community.

Already public opinion is on our side, and together we can turn a small majority of supporters into an overwhelming majority, forcing our politicians to listen and act.
